The opinions on fakes are mixed at IWC. In a way they're flattering as only successful watches are copied but Mr. Pantli thinks they can also hurt the brand, especially the ones that aren't obvious replicas. He bought along a whole box of copies and their genuine counterparts. Viewed from a few feet away these counterfeits looking amazing but up close they'll hardly be confused with the real thing.
After lunch it was then my group's turn to visit the factory. The tour started off with the opportunity to handle the entire IWC range to one's heart content. I think every single current model had been laid out for us to paw, including two Grande Complications ...
... and an "Il Destriero Scafusia" which MF was
giving so much wrist time that I was beginning to worry that he might have fallen
hopelessly in love with it ...
We were then shown a movie on the history of IWC and then went on to tour the factory ... |
